Loser says what?

Why is this guy smiling?

The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy... John 10:10a

demon1
Every year, on October 31st, people all around the world celebrate all manner of things evil.

What starts off as an "innocent" evening of fun and play, is all too often turning into stories of horror and terror that have nothing to do with games!

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out.

demon2

And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. - Luke 11:24-26

Halloween glorifies the darkness

Friends, today I am writing as one who is taking a stand against the principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against the spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph 6:12)

I am quite aware that this page may solidify me in the minds of some, as just another extremist wacko, which is all right with me. Because I am writing out of a concern for those who do not take seriously the nature of the enemy, and his agenda.

Let us face the facts - we are living in a day and age when all one has to do is open the newspaper, or turn on the television, and we can find all manner of unspeakable acts of horror being played out in the lives of every day suburbia. Parents who grow tired of the responsibility of their children, decide to poison them to death in their Chicago basement. Children carry guns and bombs to school, and cold bloodedly execute as many people as possible before taking their own lives.

These stories, and so many more are becoming commonplace in our daily conversations... and you are probably wondering, "what in the world does this have to do with Halloween?"

Perhaps on the surface, it would seem that no real logical link could be made between everyday violence, and the "holiday" we call, Halloween. But I submit to you, that in the spiritual realm - the link is very real, and very substantial.

The Devil Has a Plan

We can find in the Word, that the devil's plan is simple, straightforward, and to the point. He wishes to steal, kill, and destroy!

It is a fact that we have an enemy, and he is spiritual in nature. Equally true, is the fact that our enemy is on an ever-shortening timeline, at the end of which lies the eternal damnation, and existence in a place called the lake of fire.

Given these truths, I believe with all my heart that the enemy will do all he can, and use any means possible, to bring as many people away from his enemy, the Lord God, Almighty.

The horror that is symbolized by the masks, haunted houses, ghosts and goblins of Halloween, which are celebrated every October 31st, is actually being played out in real life every day, all around the world! The enemy is being glorified every time someone takes their own life, or the life of another.

Every time a child is abused, or someone becomes a victim of domestic violence... the only one being glorified is the devil, and I, for one, am determined to not sit idly by, and let it happen without intervention!

Christians Have Become Prime Targets

News report after news report clearly chronicles that in the latter part of the 20th century, the very fact that a person has faith in the saving power of the Lord Jesus Christ marks them as prime targets for violence, ridicule, and abuse. This is nothing new - people have been abused and martyred for their faith in Christ for nearly 2,000 years... but there seems to be an escalation in the quantity, and the brutality of the attacks in recent years.

One might link that with the ever-nearing return of Christ... and I am inclined in that direction, myself. But whether Jesus returns today, or in another 2,000 years... it is STILL far better to be a Christian, than to face the alternative. Paul said, "for to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."

What Can Be Done?

Well, the way I see it - we have a clear-cut mission. We, the body of Christ, must do all that we can to witness the love of Christ with a hungry, and thirsty world. We must be bold about our witness, but sensitive to the concerns of those around us. We must demonstrate, by our own example, the wonder of what it is to be a Christian, and to live our lives in such a way that others will see our good deeds, and give glory to our Father, in heaven.

And what if you have read this far, and come to the realization that you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior? Fear not! Today is the day of salvation... and right here, right now, you can make a decision that will remove the grip of sin on your life, and release you into the freedom of forgiveness and grace that comes only from knowing God in a personal way.
