Aside from our page of devotionals, THIS is the most frequently visited page on the ministry section of our website. And it has, unfortunately fallen way behind in the department of updates. Well, with this new format, and a heart determined to make a better go of it, I hope to solve those problems, and get on with the original idea of this page: equipping evangelists, children's workers, and educators of all sorts to present the Gospel in new and creative ways!
"Magicians aren't supposed to reveal their tricks, are they"?
Well, the general answer to that very general question is, "No, they are not". But let's delve into this for just a moment...
As a member in good standing of two major international magic organizations, I have agreed to a code of ethics which prevents me from the flagrant giving away of the secrets of my trade. This is not a secret oath, and no, I don't promise to comply under threat of bodily harm, etc. THAT would be a violation of my Christianity, and NOTHING could compel me to do anything like that!!
However, there is a fact that must be considered... if all magicians kept their secrets... there would be no MORE magicians. Therefore, in order to a.) promote the art, and b.) train others to teach more effectively, almost every magician around has either taken someone under their wing, or, in the circles I travel, taught lectures to jam-packed classrooms of people from every background imaginable.
Along those lines, as the author of two books, I am quick to cite the fact that there are VOLUMES of books in libraries around the world that will teach the secrets of magic to anyone who is interested enough to pick one up and read it.
NOTE the difference between the word, "reveal" and the word, "teach"!
Here, in the pages known as the Ministry Trick, I am in the position to TEACH various simple tricks that will equip others to make a difference in the lives of who-knows-how-many people, all around the world. I will not, of course, reveal the workings of the tricks that I, or any other professional illusionist use on a professional level, but will limit my pages to various puzzles, optical illusions, and a smattering of the very same kinds of tricks that one can find in the pages of the simplest magic books at the library.
Some magicians may see something in my pages that they have been using for years in their show, to which I say, GREAT! That only goes to prove that even the simplest little trick can be turned into a million dollar effect when placed in the right hands! Go get em!
And finally, to prevent (as much as anyone can do so on the WWW) just the casual observer from accidentally stumbling into the Trick of the Month, we have purposely buried these pages several levels deep, and there is only one way to get here for the first time. I realize that this presents a minor inconvenience for those of you who just want to get to the trick... but it really is necessary, and I pray that you will understand. I also hope that the trick that follows is worth the wait. I'd love to hear some feedback!
