This is the place where I will either teach a new trick, or actually perform one for/on YOU! These will most likely not be EARTH-SHATTERING tricks, but I think you will agree that the lessons they are designed to teach are extremely valuable, and very practical for children's workers!

This page is dedicated to anyone who has ever had to teach children, and wondered, "what am I going to speak on this Sunday??". All materials are commonly available, and should cost little or nothing to gather up and use.

This is not so much a "trick", as it is just plain, "amazing"!

Check out these facts:

• William Shakespeare is believed to have been born on 23rd April 1564.

• A memorial at Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon, records that he died on 23rd April 1616.

• Shakespeare's plays were first performed in 1588, when Shakespeare was 23.

• The First Folio of Shakespeare's works was published in 1623.

• Now 23 + 23 = 46

• The King James Bible was first published in 1611, when Shakespeare was 46.

• "WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE" is an anagram of "HERE WAS I, LIKE A PSALM

Now Try This:

• Obtain a King James (Authorized Version) Bible, and turn to PSALM 46.

• Write down the 46th word from the beginning.

• Write down the 46th word from the end.

The two words you have written down are:

"Shake" and "Spear"

Hmmm....

Spiritual lesson we might learn from this:

Sometimes things happen that I cannot explain.  One might think that they are coincidental... others might say that they are part of a larger plan.  In any case, when I do not know how or why things are the way that they are - I do not try to make them fit my idea of how things must be - I simply say, "I guess I'll have to ask God about that someday".

Let's not be too quick to make assumptions about things we do not understand.  Instead, let us understand that there are many things we may never understand, until we meet the Lord face to face... and then, should the issue come to mind, perhaps we can ask God about it then.  I have a feeling that I will be busy doing other things at that time (like worship), but we'll find that out then, too... now won't we?!
